and now for something completely different...

Hello Class! Well, I suppose this is not "completely different." This is Jeanne. I thought I'd share a project that I am working with and maybe you all will have some recommendations throughout the semester. I am the grad student assistant editor for a brand spankin' new electronic journal. It is First Opinions, Second Reactions. The concept is a literary review site for children's and young adult literature. "First opinions" are reviews written by reviewers of books we select for themed issues; "second reactions" are when a teacher, librarian, or parent takes the book and the review and tries it out with some actual young readers. We will also be including what we call "think pieces" about the issue theme, eg. international literature or fantasy. While the publication won't be available for mere mortals till Fall, we are really excited about the books and the great diversity of those who are writing already. By the by, our esteemed leader/professor Janet is also a founding editor of this journal, travelling incognito. If you twist my arm, I may be prevailed upon to speak further of this matter.
