My info

My name is Joy Dangora. I am origionally from Boston, Massachusetts, and transferred to Purdue (from UMASS) to finish my undergrad work during my sophomore year. Upon graduation I was offered a teaching position at Happy Hollow for the 2004-2005 school year and decided to stay in Indiana. I absolutely love my job, however, combined with coaching (track and field) and graduate work, I have time for little else.

I began taking graduate classes last summer and enjoyed them very much. I am working towards a degree in literacy and language, with an emphasis on multiculturalism and social studies. In addition to this class, I am currently working on a paper for presentation at a conference in March. The paper is centered around Mildred Taylor's Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry -which I am sure everyone is familiar with. I have spent and continue to spend most of my free time analyzing the identity development of several main characters. I am particularly interested in how T.J.'s racial identity contributes to the trajic final position he finds himself in. Everytime I read the book, I find something new to investigate. -an oldie, but goodie :-)
