Please allow me to introduce myself...

I could write about a number of my academic incarnations, but I’ll restrict myself to the relevant past and the all-important present. I’m a Brooklyn-born NYC boy; academically, I’m a hybrid: Catholic school from K-8; NYC public high school, and a BA (English Education) and MA (English) from Queens College (CUNY). I taught high school English in two suburbs of NYC for nine years, then I arrived at Purdue to begin a PhD in English. After much progress, stalling, and some wandering, I landed in the College of Education, where I currently work as the student teaching placement coordinator and—now—a first-year PhD student in Language & Literacy, Secondary English Ed.

I haven’t read much YA Lit. lately (unless you count the Harry Potter books), but I’m interested in the identity development of GLBTQ adolescents and GLBTQ issues in general as they relate to secondary education and, more specifically, language arts.
